Detailed Description
Whilst healthcare technologies have the potential to benefit the service user this can only be achieved if technology is accessible and used. This module will introduce you to the importance of considering the user in accessing and using healthcare technology. This is a foundational module which will be built on throughout the MSc programme. The module will include the following content:
1. Who is the ‘user’; the roles of patients and health professionals in healthcare technology utilization; working together to improve design, delivery and experience of healthcare technology.
2. The importance of considering the user during healthcare technology development and throughout the healthcare pathway.
3. Outline potential barriers and facilitators in the access and use of healthcare technology; theoretical frameworks in relation to health technology utilization. 4. Identifying and addressing inequalities in healthcare technology utilization. 5. Identification of opportunities for improving access and usability of healthcare technology.
