This module will provide you with the opportunity to enhance your employability through the development of appropriate skills and knowledge. Reflection is fundamental to this process and you will firstly be introduced to various theoretical models of reflection before applying these to evaluate your existing skills and competence. Through a series of directed tasks, you will identify potential areas for individual development in relation to an anticipated career destination. You will complete a skills gap analysis, develop a targeted curriculum CV and create an individual learning agreement. The module will also require you to consider the role of professional development within sport and employment more generally. The practical element of the module requires you to undertake the equivalent of 100 hours of experiential learning. The specific nature of this experiential learning is flexible to account for individual development needs although a clear rationale must be detailed within the proposal. Where appropriate, you may elect to undertake professional qualifications, e.g. UKCC Level 2 coaching qualifications as part of the module with the period of supported practice contributing towards the 100 hours of experiential learning. You will be required to produce a portfolio to evidence the extent of your development and experiential learning and to reflect upon your new knowledge and skills using an appropriate theoretical model.
