Detailed Description

The Haunted Shores Research Network was established in 2021 and brings together readers and scholars from many disciplines with mutual interests in cultural representations of coasts and shorelines, particularly in contexts of historical, ecological, supernatural, and aesthetic hauntings. The Network runs annual online symposia, public academic talks, a reading group and other workshops for postgraduates and early-career researchers, and a blog. Most events run online and without fees to maximise accessibility for a wide range of participants at different career stages and in different countries.

The Network runs via a WordPress site and a MailChimp email service: www.haunted-shores.com. These services incur annual running costs of around £500. We seek voluntary contributions from participants in our events who feel in a position to do so. Taking this approach instead of setting fixed fees enables us to maintain free access to events for those not able to contribute.
