In accordance with the NHS Scotland standards for Cervical Cytology, practitioners are required to undertake an update to their initial training every 3 years.
Who can register?
Any health professional who currently undertakes cervical sample taking as part of their role and hold a current NMC or GMC registration.
What is the commitment?
You need to engage with the online material which covers a variety of topics, including:
- Sample taking; the essentials
- Call recall system in Scotland
- Laboratory aspects of samples
- High Risk HPV update
- Addressing barriers to access
- Answering patients’ FAQs
Working through the essential materials should take approximately half a day and they consist of video presentations, quizzes and some recommended reading.
You are required to complete the update within 3 months of enrolment.
Evidence of completion
Once you have worked through the resources you will be able to download your certificate.
