MSc Construction Project Management

This module is only available for students enrolled on to MSc Construction Project Management.

Production Management – analysis of construction productivity strategies, production systems, on and off site production.
Production planning and programming: phase planning, progressive planning; programming techniques.
Analysis of work study techniques and their use in productivity studies.
Resource Management: manpower planning, plant management; sub-contractor selection, control and co-ordination; materials purchasing and control system; supply chain management and lean construction.

This module is only available for students enrolled on to MSc Construction Project Management.

Management Theory: Motivation; Behavioural aspects of the individual and interaction of groups.
Leadership Theory and styles; Communication; Conflict; Delegation; Innovation and Entrepreneurship
Organisational Theory: Objectives, operational principles, structure characteristics, inception and growth. Systems approach to organisation.
Corporate Planning-Formulation of company policy: models for strategic planning; evaluation and implementation of strategy; managing change.

This module is only available for students enrolled on to MSc Construction Project Management who have completed all other compulsory modules.

The module shall examine what research is, the type of research that can be undertaken to develop a dissertation proposal and carry out a review of the literature, which is available on the subject. It shall also examine how to advance a methodology to research the subject and set out the results of this investigation. It shall also reflect on how to interpret the findings of this investigation and analyse the outcomes as part of a critical synthesis.
